Sailing from Puerto Rico
Yesterday, I flew to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and met Mark Hoesman. We drove south across the island to the marina in Salinas. We have been getting ready to sail his boat (S/V MarKelle) to the Florida Keys. We will leave Salinas early tomorrow morning and head to Boqueron, Puerto Rico, for a stop. Then we start a 300-mile sail across the Mona Passage and along the north coast of the Dominican Republic. We are following a tropical wave and trying to make good enough time to stay ahead of the next one coming across the Atlantic. A stop is planned in Labadee, Haiti. After that it is a 600-mile sail along the north coast of Cuba to the Florida Keys.
