13 November 2009 -- Friday the Thirteenth, Haiti

Friday the Thirteenth, in the land of Voodoo and witch doctors, what will happen today? Went to Cap Haitien and checked out business sites related to potential projects. Survived riding all over the city on the back of several different motorcycles. Sometimes it is best not even to watch where you are headed. One constantly amusing thing here are the t-shirts people wear. Most of the clothes here come from donations to organizations like Goodwill, and the people don’t seem to care, or even know, what their shirts say. The oddest t-shirt I saw today was on a man pushing a wheelbarrow full of butchered animals, surrounded by flies, through the ankle deep muck of the central market streets. Even though he was one of the poorest of the working poor, his shirt read “Eat your heart out, I am retired.”
