18 November 2009 –

Folded up the Klepper kayak. At thirty years of age, a wood and canvas kayak probably is not safe anymore, especially on the ocean, but it is hard to give up. Tim Schwartz and I are planning to fly to Miami soon, so I basically spent the day preparing to leave the boat for awhile. A cruise ship was in port today, so the harbor was filled with kayakers, while the excursion boats and jet skis zipped around just outside the harbor. It is amazing how much activity people try to pack into a short vacation cruise. At $69 for a two-hour kayak trip, they could paddle my kayak or row my dinghy. They could even get a discount if they would row me to town.
